Day Program

A Gym for the Brain

Offered on weekdays, our Day Program for those with mild to moderate dementia provides creative and cultural arts, fitness, recreational therapy, off-site excursions, cognitive interventions, and a nutritious lunch and snack. Our light-filled facilities feature multi-pupose rooms, art studios, recreational spaces, a chapel and outdoor courtyards. Participants are able to choose activities that best suit their interests and keep them engaged and filled with purpose.

Led by Dementia Experts

Our Day Program Director leads a team of activity professionals, including bilingual staff to assist our Spanish-speaking participants. Additionally, our Health Services and Family Services professionals are available to our participants and their families. A day in the life of an Amazing Place participant is truly compelling while caregivers are able to get a bit of respite knowing their loved one is in safe, reliable hands.

Social Engagement, Arts & Recreation

Day Program offerings stimulate thinking and accommodate subtle changes in attention, concentration, speed of processing and reasoning. Participants choose from a variety of social activities to suit their interest—from painting, gameplaying and storytelling to light physical exercise. Of special note are on-site performances by professional artists and optional excursions to museums and Houston-area landmarks.

Whole Nutrition is a Plus

Day Program participants enjoy the benefits of a flavorful, healthy lunch and snack. Led by our Culinary Director, we follow the Memory Nutrition Preservation™ program incorporating whole, non-processed foods in menus that vary every day.

Amazing Place is special. Everyone is relatable. We share with each other. And you’re allowed to take your time and effort to say what you have to say.

Gary, Day Program Participant

I was living in social isolation. Now I’m much more socially aware—my world was silent, I was starved.

Bette, Day Program Participant

Coming to Amazing Place has gotten me out of the house. I could sit at home and just watch tv by myself. Here, I get to express myself. I love painting.

It’s hard to do this by yourself. I’m not alone. I’m on the same page with everyone here. You get to voice your opinion. I have a choice in what to do when I’m here.

Sharon, Day Program Participant

Toni, Day Program Participant

It is encouraging to come here. Everyone has their differences, but people pay attention here to who I am and what I want. They listen and if something’s not right, they rectify it.
