Amazing Place is excited to announce the date for our Annual Fall Educational Forum and Luncheon. This year’s event will be held on Wednesday, October 20th at The River Oaks Country Club. We are so grateful for this year’s chairs: Nancy Craig and Janet Lionberger.

We are delighted that Paul E. Schulz, M.D., Neurologist and Mary M. Kenan Owens, Psy.D., Psychologist will serve on the Educational Forum Experts’ Panel where attendees are invited to learn more about caring for their loved ones who are afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia, in the early to moderate stage.

Last year’s incredible keynote speaker, Thomas Cole, Ph.D., presented a video and program focused on Amazing Place participants and their stories. This video can be viewed on our website at www.amazingplacehouston.org. We are so blessed to have Dr. Cole’s team back again this year to present a video and program that will focus on stories from Amazing Place caregivers’ lives and journeys.

Amazing Place will honor Tres Cochran and Vicki Keiser at the luncheon. Tres and Vicki have served eight years on the Board of Directors. Tres and Vicki, personally and professionally, have gone above and beyond in their dedication to Amazing Place’s growth, expansion and success. Almeria Cottingham, this year’s Honorary Chairwoman, has been with our organization since its inception. Her visionary leadership and guidance have helped shape the realization of our new facility.

On March 2nd, the Amazing Place Fall Luncheon Host Committee gathered at the beautiful home of Jane and Gary Swanson for a Wine and Cheese party that energized the excitement for this year’s luncheon. Tracey Brown, Executive Director of Amazing Place, thanked the 60+ volunteers in attendance and spoke about our anticipation of the wonderful year ahead of Amazing Place.

For further information about the Educational Forum and Luncheon, or if you are interested in serving on the Host Committee or would like to become an underwriter for this year’s event, please contact: Laurel Thompson, Development Director at 713-850-1563 or lthompson@amazingplacehouston.org.

Teena Reese, devoted daughter and primary caregiver to Amazing Place participant, Johnnie Knight, lights up when she shares the story of her mother’s musical talent on the piano. Johnnie’s story is also laced with a deep love of family, square dancing, camping, playing bridge, numerous civic activities, the Tanglewood Garden Club, and shopping trips with her grandchildren...the music of her soul.
